So a few weeks ago I was having a conversation with a friend and we both agreed it would be fun to make “bingo cards” where we each make twenty-four predictions for the new Obi-Wan Kenobi series. With the show now exactly a month away, I thought it would be fun to share my list of predictions here (sorry that I didn’t put it into the format of an actual bingo card…).
Before proceeding with the actual list, however, allow me to explain a few things:
Firstly, I took some of these predictions more seriously than others, so I only expect a few of them to come true, at most, as a lot of these are just “wishful thinking” on my part, and a few are just “silly” predictions I made just for fun. Secondly, I mainly went in the mindset that this entire show will be used for correcting a lot of the continuity errors between the prequel trilogy and the original trilogy (yes, millennials; those exist), so you can expect to see that theme throughout pretty much this entire list. Thirdly, I tried to organize the list itself into chronological order as much as possible, though that proved to be harder to do than I expected. Lastly, in addition to watching the trailer, I did admittedly look up a few spoilers for the show, but only a few (the entire plot is apparently already out there). So beware of spoilers here, you’ve been warned.
Now, without further ado, here are my twenty-four predictions for Obi-Wan Kenobi!
1.Kenobi just goes by “Ben” and doesn’t allow anyone to call him by his real name (as he said to Luke in A New Hope “I haven’t gone by that name since before you were born”). So “Obi-Wan” is almost never actually said in the show (if at all, even).
2.Kenobi runs into someone from his past and pretends not to know them (like he does with the droids in A New Hope).
3.Detail provided for why Owen seems to hate Kenobi so much in A New Hope.
4.Flashback to Anakin’s knighthood and/or when he built the legacy saber.
5.Inciting incident involves Kenobi leaving Tattooine to go try to redeem Anakin (since Vader tells Luke in Return of the Jedi “Obi-Wan once thought as you do”).
6.Palpatine cameo (he confirms to Vader that Obi-Wan is still alive).
7.Kenobi meets Leia and introduces himself as just “Ben.”
8.Leia and “Ben” bond (hence why she would later name her son that).
9.Leia also meets both Vader and Tarkin (she seems to already know them both in A New Hope).
10.Two duels (where Kenobi uses both sabers); one at Vader’s lava castle, and another on a half-finished Death Star (to make Vader’s line in A New Hope “you should not have come back” more literal).
11.First duel is midway through the show, with the intent to redeem Vader, but Kenobi loses and then duels him again at the end, this time angry, and almost kills him, but is stopped by Qui-Gon’s voice.
12.During the second duel (at the end), Vader electrocutes Kenobi, which accelerates his age.
13.Between the two duels, Kenobi also kills Reva, which symbolizes that he’s “going dark.”
14.Kumail Nanjiani’s character also dies at some point.
15.Kenobi tauntingly calls Vader “Darth” at least once.
16.Reason provided for why the first Death Star took so long to build.
17.Kenobi learns his way around the Death Star (he seems to know it well in A New Hope), and calls it a “space station” at least once in the show.
18.Vader gets unmasked in front of Kenobi (and we see Hayden’s burnt face).
19.Bail Organa refers to “Ben” as General Kenobi when he brings Leia back, hence why she knows Ben and Obi-Wan are the same person in A New Hope.
20.Kenobi also sees R2 and 3PO in the distance here and wants to go say hi to them, but Bail stops him and explains that he wiped 3PO’s memory (Kenobi already seems to know that in A New Hope somehow).
21.Show ends with Kenobi returning to Tattooine and getting his A New Hope house, robes and haircut.
22.Kenobi finally sees/ talks to Qui-Gon’s ghost (and they agree that the future is in Luke’s hands and not theirs).
23.“Ben” meets Luke (after finally getting Owen’s blessing).
24.Owen accidentally calls him “Kenobi” when introducing him to Luke (hence why Luke knows him specifically as “Ben Kenobi” in A New Hope cause, seriously, why would he keep his last name?!).
And that’s all I got! Again, I only expect a few of these predictions to be accurate (if any at all). Nevertheless, this was a fun little exercise for me, and I’m looking forward to the show regardless.

UPDATE 2: Wait, why didn’t 3PO recognize Leia in R2’s hologram in A New Hope? Writing this post just made think of that…
