Solar System Haikus

A while back I got bored and decided to write haikus about each planet in our solar system (including Pluto), and figured I might as well share them here now. I’m also including a bonus haiku about one of the solar system’s moons. I might come back and add more haikus about other moons, sub-planets, etc. in our solar system if I get bored…

That being said, here you go:

MERCURY

Closest to the sun

Absolutely zero life

Always been the case…

VENUS

Forest and yellow sky

What we all once thought of this world

Sadly not the real case…

EARTH

The one where it all happened

Not too far away and not too close

The one that can’t be explained…

MARS

Mystery land of red

Bleak skies with sunsets of blue

Were you ever green?

JUPITER

Asteroid-catcher

With many moons of all kinds

Storms that never end…

SATURN

Great rings of the universe

And home of the only stable moon

That may someday be our home…

URANUS

The side-spinning world

The one with the funny name

Pronounced the wrong way…

NEPTUNE

Ice-shards, blowing in the wind

Through one-hundred-thousand feet of gas

Leading to a rocky core…

PLUTO

The forgotten one

Official planet-no-more

Always one to me…

IAPETUS

A perfectly-split moon

One side white, and the other red

For reasons still unknown…

…Well, that’s it for now!

Peace!
